Sonatrach Eying Sudanese Investments

Sunday, October 23, 2016

Algeria’s state-run oil and gas firm Sonatrach is considering adding to its international portfolio of assets in Africa, with an investment in Sudan. Sonatrach expressed its interest in a possible investment in the Sudanese oil and gas sector when a technical delegation visited Khartoum.

The technical delegation met with Sudan’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Awad Al-Karim Mohamed Khair. Algeria’s ambassador to Khartoum was at the meeting when the parties discussed the available investment opportunities in Sudan.

The technical delegation’s visit to Khartoum follows a meeting between the two countries’ ministers of oil and gas recently held in Algeria for the exchange of experiences and cooperation in the industry.

The Sonatrach delegation was briefed on the opportunities available and the blocks ready for investment.
