SPE NAICE 2010 ADDRESS WORLD'S ENERGY DEMAND AND SUPPLY MIX AT TINAPA-CALABAR
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council announces the 34th edition of the Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE 2010), is scheduled to be held between 31st July-7th August 2010, in Calabar, Nigeria.
NAICE is the largest upstream Oil and Gas event in Africa, held annually in Nigeria and attracts industry practitioners at all levels, as well as key stakeholders. NAICE 2010 is the industry's opportunity to learn, debate, and challenge ideas to chart the right course towards a sustainable future for the industry.
With the theme, 'Meeting the World's Energy Demand and Supply Mix:The Role of Africa' the event will explore the critical role of investment, technology, legal and political frameworks as well as the role that national oil companies can play, especially against the backdrop of the current world drive to reduce carbon emission.
According to the Conference Chairman Engr. Toni Ezeukwu, two panel discussion topics will be covered during the plenary sessions for NAICE 2010 are; Imperatives for financial investment in energy research and development in the sub-Sahara region, and Legal, Financial and Political framework for energy development in the Africa sub-region: The journey so far.
Engr. Toni Ezeukwu said part of the reason for hosting this year's edition in Calabar is because the region has experienced a progressive political transformation that has benefited the image of Nigeria as an investment destination, paving the way for national political stability. There is also increasing liberalization of air transport and the development of international hub that allows for direct international access.
