Spina Group Starts-Up Third Unit for Cable Production

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

Spina Group, a long standing Italian company strongly geared towards the international market, recently announced the start-up of its third production unit, Eurocavi, ending a three-year period of significant investments, turnover growth and opening of new locations around the world.

Spina Group was established in 1990 as a supplier of electrical equipment and spare parts for the industry. Following a growth path bucking the trend, the company has transformed its core business from distribution to production thanks to the acquisition of the leading cable tray manufacturer Schiavetti Tekno in 2008, and the opening of Atex srl for the production of explosion-proof materials, in 2011.

With Eurocavi, a leading provider of standard and custom industrial electrical cables made according to customer specifications, Spina Group launched its third production unit, thus completing its offer range including structured solutions and comprehensive support for the industry.

Eurocavi manufactures different types of low-voltage cables (instrumentation, energy, thermocouple, special cables) and is able to provide short length cables.

The cables produced by Eurocavi, in addition to quickly meet customer needs, are manufactured in full compliance with all applicable regulations. In particular, the company is highly specialized in the production of special cables to customer specifications. In the absence of specifications, the field of application is analyzed and the best solution is proposed, designed on the real technical and environmental needs. Tests and inspections are made in presence of the customer and, for further confirmations, the company engages leading independent certification companies.

In the past three years Spina Group made production investments for almost €4 million and, at the same time, engaged in an intensive program of internationalization, opening offices abroad to follow their main Oil & Gas customers. Today Spina Group is present in Egypt, Mexico, Nigeria, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates.

The turnover of the entire Group (incl. production units and offices abroad) has doubled in the last three years, from €7.8 million in 2011 to €16.3 million in 2014. The forecast for 2015 show further signs of growth.

The production units of the Group recorded sales growth in the past three years too. Schiavetti Tekno has doubled its turnover after the acquisition and restructuring by Spina Group, while Atex has grown by 18%, which is more than the average of companies in the same sector, which stood at around 13%.

“Spina Group is a rapidly growing company and we are proud to announce today the launch of our new production unit, Eurocavi” said Marco Spina, Spina Group’s Sales Director. “Spina Group is one of the few Italian companies that, in a period of severe economic crisis, has decided to invest heavily inside the country, where we want to maintain production and where we shall continue to invest. In parallel to this, we are going to increase overseas investment to strengthen the presence of Spina Group in the countries in which our major Oil & Gas customers operate.”
