Suretank, a global leader in the supply of DNV certified cargo carrying units to the offshore oil and gas industry, has delivered 18 Generator Skid Bases for Viking Power Systems in Thailand on behalf of Energy Power Systems, the Australian Caterpillar engine and generating set distributor.
Built at Suretank’s Thailand facility, the units will be deployed to various well sites in Australia for power supply.
The skid bases will provide the main structural support for the engines and generators at the well sites. Each skid base consists of two formed side rails, cross members, mounting pads, forklift openings, and a bottom plate. They offer provision for engine oil drain, coolant drain and bunding drain. The skid base also serves as a support for the acoustic enclosure designed and built by Viking Power Systems.
Peter Weiss, Managing Director at Suretank Thailand, said: “The customer came to us with very high expectations around the precision and surface finish of the units, which other fabricators had found too challenging to meet. Following a detailed inspection of the first batch of units, we immediately received a second order and another has been advised.”
Mr Kriangkrai Meehinkong, Engineer at Viking said: “We are extremely pleased with the finished products. They have been built to our exact specification and finished to a very high standard. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Suretank Thailand.”
Suretank is the world’s largest manufacturer of tanks and cargo-carrying units for the offshore oil and gas industry and all of its products are produced to DNV 2.7-1 certification as standard.
