In Nigeria, Star Deep Water Petroleum Ltd. (an affiliate of Chevron Corp.) has awarded Technip an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract of approximately $800 million for the Agbami field development. The Agbami is located offshore Nigeria in approximately 5,000 feet of water. The new contract for Technip includes the installation of manifolds supplied by Star Deep Water Petroleum Ltd., and the design, manufacture, and installation of flexible flowlines, risers, and umbilicals.

Installation will involve several vessels from Technip’s fleet. The company’s engineering center in Paris will handle the overall management of the project and undertake the engineering and design of the flowlines and associated risers.
As part of Nigeria’s local content policy Technip plans to subcontract to companies in Nigeria. Furthermore, the company will train Nigerian engineers in offshore deepwater construction technology and Nigerian technicians in flexible flowline termination.
Other partners in the Agbami development include Texaco Nigeria Outer Shelf, Inc. (an affiliate of the Chevron Corp.), Petroleo Brasileiro Nigeria Ltd., Statoil Nigeria Ltd., Famfa Oil Ltd., and the NNPC.
