TGS said it is preparing to start a new multi-client 3D seismic survey project off the West African coast. The survey will cover the emerging basin that covers Senegal to Guinea through The Gambia, covering an area of 11,135 sq km.
The company also said that the survey will be complemented by reprocessing and merging the data already acquired. The will aid in better understanding the oil potential in the MSGBC (Mauritania-Senegal-Guinea-Bissau-Conakry) basin, one of the most interesting for the industry.
The northern part of the survey, Senegal and Mauritania, has been home to many oil and gas discoveries over past several year and are now turning toward development.
In the southern area of the survey is Gambia, which will see its first well in 40 years drilled by FAR Ltd. in the coming months.
