TPDC Updates Mtwara/Dar Es Salaam Pipeline

Tanzania’s state-run oil and gas firm Tanzania Petroleum Development Corp. or TPDC updated the Mtwara to Dar Es Salaam pipeline project recently. According to the company, completion and the commissioning of natural gas treatment plants are on schedule for February 2015.

Construction of the 16 valve stations, which cover the entire pipeline, is on track for completion at the end of January. The project will also see the construction of facilities receiving natural gas at Mtwara, Somanga, Vote, Kilwa, Kinyerezi, and Tegeta in Dar es Salaam completed at the same time.

Hydrostatic pressure testing is being done on different areas of the pipeline; to date 432 km have been completed, with the remaining portion is expected to be complete also by the end of January.

TPDC said that the continuing of the pre-commissioning and commissioning preparations is also ongoing.
