Uganda Requests Loan from China

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Uganda has called on China for funds to build its infrastructure, roads specifically. The East African country asked China for a $500-million loan to aid in the construction of about 600 km of roads in and around its oil region.

Uganda is moving forward on the development of the resources discovered in the western region of the country, but it sorely lacks the infrastructure needed for the development. Besides the roads, the country will build a refinery and participate in the construction of an oil pipeline with neighboring Tanzania.
