Wood Group Wins Contract for Nigerian Plants

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Wood Group GTS was awarded a contract with Leventis Overseas Ltd. for the supply of three refurbished Nomad 5 power packages for use in Nigeria. The contract, which has a value in excess of $3 million, involves procurement and refurbishment of each power pack, encompassing overhaul of the TB5000 gas turbines, testing of auxiliary equipment and installation of modern PLC-based control systems to ensure reliable operation in service.

The company’s most recent contract builds on previous contracts for the supply of equipment and maintenance services to Leventis and will help to meet demand for additional power at two of their manufacturing plants in Nigeria. All refurbishment work relating to this contract will be performed in the UK, including at the newly opened gas turbine service centre situated in Lincoln, England.

The Nomad 5 is a complete, single-trailer power package, capable of generating up to 3MW ISO. It can be relocated easily and quickly, towed from one location to another as needed and be operational within 48 hours.

"We awarded this contract to Wood Group GTS as they were able to meet our need for additional power within a tight timescale and with minimal commissioning requirements at the site," stated Malcolm Freeman, Procurement of Leventis.

Iain Murray, president, Oil Gas and Industrial Services, Wood Group GTS said, "Our track record in gas turbine services and ability to minimize disruption at the customer's site were key factors in securing this award. West Africa is an important growth region for Wood Group GTS and we are very pleased to be supporting Leventis in their drive to increase manufacturing capacity within Nigeria."
