YoYo-1 Pay Brings Glee to Noble in Cameroon

Saturday, October 6, 2007

Noble Energy announced its second West African discovery in less than a week with the YoYo-1 in Cameroon. The YoYo-1 discovery comes just days after Noble’s announcement that it hit pay oil with the Benita I-2 appraisal well in Equatorial Guinea.

The YoYo-1 is located in 1,732 feet of water on the PH-77 license offshore Cameroon. The well had a primary target in the Miocene and a secondary target in the Paleogene. The Miocene reservoir came in for Noble with 95 feet (29 meters) of net hydrocarbon pay encountered in the "YoYo-1" prospect interval. No commercial hydrocarbons were met in the deeper Paleogene.

Noble said that production from the Miocene reservoir yielded flow rates of 330 bpd of condensate and 31 Mmcf per day of natural gas, but added that production rates were limited by test facilities. With the installation of cooling and processing facilities Noble says that condensate yields can be increased. Additional appraisal work will be necessary to verify the areal extent of the YoYo-1 discovery.

Noble Energy Cameroon Ltd. is the operator of the PH-77 license with a 50% participating interest. Partnered with Noble are Petronas and Cameroon’s state-owned oil and gas company Societe Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH).
