ENI Awarded Three Permits in Algeria

Thursday, June 26, 2014

Italian major ENI has been granted three prospection permits by Algeria’s state-run oil firm Sonatrach. The permits authorize ENI, as operator and partnered with Sonatrach, to carry out prospection activities over 46,837 sq km of the Timimoun and Oued Mya basins in southern Algeria.

The three permits, the El Guefoul, the Tinerkouk, and theTerfas, were issued by ALNAFT, Algeria’s state agency in charge of the country’s hydrocarbon resources and are valid for two years.  The work program includes studies and drilling of prospection wells to define the potential of the areas. The three areas are considered of great interest and potential.

ENI said that the initiative strengthens the already excellent relations between it and Sonatrach.
