Friday, March 6, 2015

The Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope) and Italian firm ENI, have made a new petroleum discovery according to Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum. The Malak discovery is located in southern Egypt (Upper Egypt as it is called) in the West Esh El Mallaha concession area. This is the fourth petroleum discovery achieved in the south of Egypt.

Flow testing showed production flow rates of about 430 bpd of high quality 40° API light crude oil. The Ministry estimates the discovery’s reserve base at about 9.6 million barrels. Commercial production of the new discovery is planned to commence in the second quarter of this year, along with increasing production rates. A plan for the development of the new discovery will be implemented through the drilling of seven new wells.
