Madagascar Oil Limited (MOL) has appointed Alex Archila as joint CEO effective July 27. The roles and responsibilities of CEO will be held jointly with current CEO and company founder, Sam Malin, during an interim period.
Archila joins MOL from Chevron Limited, where he served as President during the past four years. During that period, he was also a member of Chevron Corp.’s Management Committee. In this position, Archila was responsible for Chevron Canada’s 90,000 gross boed of production, onshore and offshore exploration, together with marketing of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.
Madagascar Oil Ltd. is focused on the development of onshore heavy oil fields and exploration of onshore conventional oil and gas prospects in Madagascar. Through its subsidiaries, Madagascar Oil SA and Majunga Oil SARL, Madagascar Oil holds production sharing contracts for oil and gas exploration and development on six onshore blocks covering nearly 53,000 sq kms in Madagascar, including a heavy oil field at Tsimiroro and an ultra-heavy oil field at Bemolanga.
