Mozambique to Sign Production Contracts in 2014

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Contracts for the production of the significant natural gas reserves found off the coast of Mozambique are set to be signed in 2014. The government of Mozambique said it will sign the contracts with explorers Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and ENI prior to July of next year.

The announcement regarding the schedule for the signing was revealed by Mozambique’s mineral resources minister Esperança Bias during an industry event. The minister said that the signing of contracts would set in motion a process that would lead to the production of natural gas in Mozambique by 2018.

“So that gas can start flowing in 2018, we aim to have the contracts signed by July 2014,” she confirmed, assuring that all efforts were being made with that date in mind.
