New Gas Discovery in Libya

Monday, September 16, 2013

Despite the crisis surrounding Libya’s oil and gas sector, the country’s state-run National Oil Corp. (NOC) was able to report some positive news recently. The news came in the form of a discovery made by NOC and the operator Polish Oil and Gas Co. (POGC) Libya.

NOC and POGC are partnered on Area 113/1 in the Murzuq Basin, where the A1-113/1 new field wildcat was drilled.

While NOC did not offer up a significant amount of information on the discovery, it did say that a natural gas discovery flowed during production testing at a rate of 4 Mmcf/d from an interval in the Tahara formation.

The A1-113/1 represents the first discovery well drilled by the partners in this contract area.
