Pura Vida Misses Secondary Objectives in MZ-1

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

The secondary objective of Pura Vida Energy’s MZ-1 well offshore Morocco failed to encounter hydrocarbons. The well was drilled to a total depth of 15,265 ft and wireline logs were run to evaluate the entire open hole section of the well.

The company said that preliminary results from all of the data gathered to date indicate that there is no effective reservoir in either of the secondary objectives in the Cenomanian and Aptian intervals and no oil shows were encountered.

The well will be drilled an additional 3,107 ft in order to test the primary objectives of the basin floor fans, Fan-1 and Fan-2. After drilling through these targets a decision will be made whether to deepen the well to 20,177 ft to test a third Jurassic fan, Fan-3.

Damon Neaves, the company’s MD said in a company statement, “We are disappointed that the well failed to encounter reservoir in the secondary objectives in the Cretaceous, however we expect to intersect the primary targets in the Jurassic and look forward to reporting those results shortly.”
