Sharara Field Shutting Down

Libya’s production is set to take a hit as the Sharara oil field is gradually shutting down after the closure of a control room. Its shut down could take around 270,000 bpd off the market.

According to a Reuters report, oil workers posting on Facebook said the control room had been hijacked by an armed group.

The report also said that a source in Libya confirmed that the Sharara was being shut down and thatsupplies of gasoline and jet fuel from Zawiya, which is home to an export terminal and a refinery, had also been disrupted.
