Zambia’s President Dies

Zambia’s president, Michael Sata, passed away on the evening of October 28. Sata had been in the UK receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness when he died at London’s King Edward VII hospital.

Zambian Vice-President Guy Scott has been named acting leader following Sata’s death. Presidential elections to choose a permanent successor will be held within 90 days.

Scott becomes Africa’s first white head of state for many years.
