14 Found Dead in Libyan Rubbish Dump

Monday, July 25, 2016

In the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, 14 unidentified bodies were found. According to reports the bodies had been shot in the head. The bodies were found in a rubbish dump and had their hands and legs tied.

There are also reports of signs of torture.

According to a report from the Libya Herald the bodies showed few signs of decomposition and all 14 are thought to have been killed in the previous 48 hours.

Martin Kobler, the UN envoy to Libya, labeled the killings a war crime and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.

The 14 bodies were found in a neighborhood of Benghazi that forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar captured earlier this year from an alliance of Islamists and other militants.
