Sonatrach announced that last week the company successfully completed, in partnership with Eni, the construction of the gas pipeline which links the sites of Bir Rebaa Nord (BRN) and Menzel Ledjmet Est (MLE) in the Berkine Basin, in the southern part -est of Algeria, 320 km from Hassi Messaoud, Wilaya of Ouargla.
The 185 km long, 16 inch diameter gas pipeline has the capacity to transport 7 million standard cubic meters of gas per day.
The project will allow the export of the associated gas and the development of the gas fields of the “North Berkine” blocks, where the drilling and connections of the first four (4) wells have been completed, only one year from the entry into force. agreements signed in February 2019.
In addition, the production of the oil fields, of these same blocks, started in May 2019 while continuing development during the current year.
It should be noted that the project is an example, to capitalize on, which saw a shared commitment by Sonatrach and Eni, based on a common strategy for reducing lead times and on the quality and capacity of the subsidiaries of the SONATRACH Group which have carried out the project.
In fact, the “Berkine Nord” gas project will provide daily production of 6.5 million cubic meters of gas and 10 thousand barrels of associated liquids.
With the development of the oil, total production will reach 65 thousand boe per day during the year 2020.
