Over 2013 Spanish oil firm Repsol saw better than average drilling success, seeing nine out of 23 wells drilled produce oil or gas. These wells represented a success rate of 39%, which beats the industry average of 20-25%.
The company is hoping to continue this success over into 2014 where it has a number of wells planned for Africa. Repsol said it was increasing exploration activities in West Africa, specifically in Angola, Liberia, and Namibia. The company is expected to spud offshore Namibia before the end of Q1 on its PEL 0010 with the Welwitchia-1 well.
