55 Dead in Tanker Explosion

In Niger a fuel tanker explosion left at least 55 dead. The victims of the explosion were siphoning gasoline from the tanker after it overturned.

The incident took place on May 5 on the highway linking Niger’s Diori Hamani international airport to the capital Niamey.

Interior Minister Mohamed Bazoum said 55 bodies had been recovered from the scene and that 37 were being treated in nearby hospitals.
