Terror has struck again, this time in Kenya. Masked gunmen stormed Kenya’s Garissa University Wednesday demanding that students identify themselves as Muslims or Christians. The attackers, then proceeded to open fire on the Christian students and it was reported that some were also beheaded.
Somali Islamist terror group Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the massacre.
By Thursday evening more than 500 students had been rescued and four of the attackers were blown up by explosives they were wrapped in; some of the policemen were injured with shrapnel as a result.
With Kenya’s newly burgeoning oil industry following several promising discoveries, the terror threat could prove to undermine its progress. This is not the first incident of Al-Shabaab wreaking havoc in the country.
