Abu Sennan Well to be Evaluated

Monday, July 22, 2013

Beach Petroleum and Kuwait Energy are evaluating high resistivity anomalies and hydrocarbon shows observed in their El Salmiya-2 well in Egypt’s WesternDesert on the Abu Sennan concession. Four zones of hydrocarbons were identified in the well

Kuwait Energy, the operator, is currently setting up to test the well, with flow rates from this test anticipated soon thereafter.

The El Salmiya-2 well was drilled to appraise reservoirs in the Abu Roash “C” and “E” zones, which flowed at combined gross rates of 2,900 bpd and 16 Mmscf/d in the El Salmiya-1 discovery well drilled last year.

The JV equity interests in Abu Sennan are Beach (via wholly owned subsidiary Beach Petroleum (Egypt) Ltd.) with 22%; Kuwait Energy Egypt as operator with 50%, and Dover Investments with 28%.
