It was another deadly weekend in Africa with at least 19 dead in two countries: Nigeria and Libya. In Nigeria a bomb blast in a cattle market in Borno state left more than a dozen dead. According to military sources, a bomb exploded in the community of Musair outside of Maiduguri, which just last week saw 50 dead to a bomb blast in a crowded market, leaving as many as 16 dead and even more injured.
While no one claimed responsibility for the bombing, it is eerily similar to attacks carried out by the Boko Haram in the region.
In the beleaguered North African country of Libya, ISIS militants continue their attacks on police and military forces, the latest leaving three dead. According to the country’s state news agency LANA, ISIS militants killed three soldiers loyal to Libya’s unrecognized government in Tripoli when they stormeda military police checkpoint in Bughrain, east of Misrata and killed the soldiers with knives.
Over the past several months ISIS has taken credit for several attacks, including the attack on a hotel in Tripoli and the beheading of dozens of Egyptian and Ethiopian Christians.
