Africa Petroleum Commences Fuel Marketing in Ghana

As a part of its growth strategy, Africa Petroleum Plc (AP) has incorporated AP Ghana Limited to commence business in the downstream sector of Ghana’s oil and gas industry.
 
According to the company’s managing director, Zira Maigadi, part of the company’s strategy to survive in the face of ever increasing competition, is with the expansion of business beyond the borders of Nigeria.
 
According to Maigadi, the necessary mechanisms are being put in place to ensure that the new company will maximize the opportunities available to it in the downstream sector of Ghana.
 
The company’s performance dropped over 2005 recording a N42.7 billion however translating into a N3.5 billion loss. However, through the third quarter of 2006 the company has rebounded and hit a turnover of N56.7.
 
Maigadi, at the NIS ISO 9001:2000 certificate presentation and 2006 merit award ceremony in Lagos, said the company has been repositioned and is breaking new business frontiers in the petroleum products marketing sector, adding that the remarkable improvement in the company’s financials shows that the best is yet to come. “…and we are certain that AP will create indelible prints in the downstream sector of the Nigeria oil and gas industry,” he said.
 
He said certification of the company by Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) with the ISO 9001:2000 was performance upon a pledge made by the present management to employ every positive initiative, using industry best practices for AP to regain its former glory and position as a major player in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry, not just in Nigeria but also beyond its shores.
 
“The ISO 9001:2000 is an international recognized standard for business quality management, encompassing all the processes that an organization uses to create and control the products and services it provides…”, Maigadi commented.
