African Petroleum Exiting Ivorian Block

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

African Petroleum Corp.  is exiting Block CI-509 off the coast of Cote d’Ivoire. The company had been given time by the Ivorian authorities to find a new partner for the acreage, but the search for a suitable partner was unsuccessful. As a result, the company has now commenced the process to withdraw from the block.

Elsewhere in Côted’Ivoire work is continuing to incorporate the results of the Ayamé-1X exploration well. The well, drilled in May, had recorded oil shows in the targeted reservoirs but no significant hydrocarbons were found. The Ayamé-1X was subsequently plugged and abandoned as a dry hole. According to African Petroleum, the well was completed by the operator, Ophir Energy, safely and under budget.
