AGRC Meets with Uganda on Refinery

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

A delegation from the government of Uganda, led my Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Irene Muloni, met with the Albertine Graben Refinery Consortium (AGRC) to discuss Uganda’s planned 60,000 bpd refinery in the Hoima district.

During the meeting Minister Muloni approved the proposal for a technical solution for the refinery put forward by Saipem.

All the preparatory activities for the refinery have been completed and AGRC can now move on to the next phase of the refinery’s development, the FEED, part of the pre-FID activities vital for the construction of the refinery. The FID is expected to be taken by the end of next year.

The AGRC consortium is made up of YAATRA Africa, LionWorks Group, and Baker Hughes General Electric and is supported by Saipem as services provider for the execution of both the FEED and EPC phase of the project.
