Aigle-1X a Duster for Vitol and Genel

Drilling of the Aigle-1X well offshore Cote d’Ivoire on Block CI-508 was not the success that Vitol Energy and Genel Energy hoped it would be. The well failed to encounter hydrocarbons during drilling and subsequently is being plugged and abandoned.

The well, spud October, was drilled to test the top-ranked prospect, which is known as Icterine-Reed, lying around 4,200 meters below sea level.

Vitol operates the block with 36% interest. Partners include Genel (24%), Petroci International (30%) and Petroci Holding (10%).
