In Algeria, security forces arrested captured seven Islamist gunmen in southern Algeria. The gunmen were arrested on January 12 near the In Amenas gas plant, a statement from the country’s defense ministry said.
“Seven terrorists have been arrested and an inquiry is underway to shed light on their identities,” the ministry statement said.
Algerian security forces also seized weapons and three vehicles during the ambush of the gunmen, it said.
