Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Following his latest win at the polls, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika reshuffled his cabinet. A statement from Bouteflika’s office said as many 13 ministers have left their positions, 10 others were maintained, while six new members have joined the cabinet.

One of those ministers leaving his post was Minister of Energy Noureddine Boutarfa. Mustapha Guitouni, the former CEO of Sonelgaz (National Society for Electricity and Gas), was named to replace Boutarfa. Guitouni, who became president and CEO of Sonelgaz in June 2016, is a specialist in grids and power distribution. He was also CEO of local government-run power distributor Société de Distribution de l’Electricité et du Gaz d’Alger.
