Algeria has named Ahmed Ouyahia as prime minister. He replaces Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who held the office for just three months, the office of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said on August 15.
This is not Ouyahia’s first time as prime minister of Algeria, he previously held the position in the 1990s when the country was battling an Islamist insurgency.
The office of the presidency gave no reason for the change. Ouyahia has served three terms as prime minister and was most recently Bouteflika’s chief of staff.
