Exports of petroleum from Algeria totaled 71.5 million tons of oil equivalent for H1 2016, an 8% increase over the same period in 2015, state-run oil firm Sonatrach said in a statement.
While exports were up for H1, the company did say that they had declined by the end of August. Sonatrach said the decline was due to processing large amounts of crude at its northern refineries.
“The performance of refineries allowed us to achieve our objective, which is to export refined products to 123% over the first 8 months of 2016 to reach a growth of 2% compared to the same period of 2015, ” according to the statement.
“As for the Italian market, our gas exports rose almost 3 billion m3 (BCM) over the first 6 months of the year,” said the group.
