Algeria to Standardize Unleaded Fuel Use

Tuesday, June 22, 2021

The Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab announced Monday that from July, unleaded fuel will become the only gasoline available on the national market and all leaded fuels will be removed.

The switch is in line with the Government’s program aimed at achieving the energy transition goals by consuming less polluting fuels.

“The use of unleaded fuel will directly allow the cleaning of the air polluted by this material emitted by the fuel of vehicles considered as one of the sources of pollution in the country,” Minister Arkab stated.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will be available at the same service stations and with the same current cost
