Tuesday, December 19, 2017

Partners on the Reggane Nord gas fields in Algeria have started production. The Reggane Nord’s operating consortium is made up of Repsol and Sonatrach as joint operators, partnered by DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG and Edison.

The gas fields, when at full capacity, are expected to produce at a rate of 280 Mmcf/d starting in January 2018. The project is made up of six gas fields (Azrafil Sud-Est, Kahlouche, Kahlouche Sud, Tiouliline, Sali and Reggane.) The Reggane Nord project is expected to be in production until at least 2041.

The partners built a Central Processing Facility and significant infrastructure to process the gas collected from the wells. According to Repsol the start of production marks the completion of one of its most significant projects in Africa. DEA said that the project was the first to be brought into production from this prospective region in the south west of Algeria.

With first gas, the commissioning period started in which the performance of the constructed Gas Treatment Plant will be tested and the new built GR5 national gas transport pipeline will be filled with the gas from Reggane Nord.
