All Crude Sales Should Go Through NOC Benghazi

Thursday, March 19, 2015

The internationally recognized government of Libya said that the sale of any of its resources should be arranged through the country’s state-run oil firm NOC in Benghazi. While one would think there would not be a need to say this as the government in Benghazi is the legally recognized one internationally, so far customers have been paying NOC in Tripoli for theirexport crude.

“The government confirms that any contracting or sale outside the legal framework represented by National Oil Corp headed by Mabrouk Bou Seif and based in Benghazi is considered a violation,” the official government of Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni said in a statement.

Al-Thinni has not altered the payment system to date in an effort not to discourage buyers and it is unclear if NOC Benghazi will create a new payment system in the future or not.
