Anadarko in LNG Talks with Chinese

Monday, January 15, 2018

US-based independent, Anadarko Petroleum Corp., is reportedly in talks with Chinese buyers for the sale of its production of LNG from its project offshore Mozambique. Anadarko’s discussions involve “a variety of Chinese counterparts, including national oil companies and emerging independent LNG buyers,” an Anadarko spokesperson said according to a Bloomberg report.

The Anadarko spokesperson went on to say that China’s increasing consumption makes it “a long term strategic market for the Anadarko-led Mozambique LNG project.”

Successful discussions with the Chinese and China’s ever-growing demand would bode well for the US firm and its partners. As yet, the JV partners have not taken Final Investment Decision on plans to process natural gas from Rovuma Basin Offshore Area One.
