Anadarko Petroleum has issued a termination of convenience notice to Dolphin Drilling, a subsidiary of Fred Olsen Energy, for the contract covering the Belford Dolphin. The termination will be effective in early September 2015. The termination fee is approximately $52 million.
Anadarko has been using the Belford Dolphin for its exploration program in East Africa.
The unit will undertake its five-year Class Renewal Survey in Q2/Q3 2015. The five-year CRS and upgrades is estimated to take around 100 days and cost $130 million.
