Anadarko Sells Mozambique LNG Capacity

Thursday, March 27, 2014

Anadarko Petroleum said that it has sold two-thirds of the capacity of its planned Mozambique LNG project. The two-thirds capacity is going to Asian buyers, while the company expects to have the remaining one-third sold soon.

“We think we have financially de-risked the project,” Anadarko CEO Al Walker said during a Reuters interview. “We expect to make a final investment decision on the project later this year.”

The Anadarko CEO said he expects the remaining third of the Mozambique capacity to be sold to Asian customers, not European customers, despite recent tensions between Europe and Russia over Ukraine.
