Anadarko Signs SPA for Moz LNG

Sunday, February 3, 2019

Anadarko Petroleum revealed it has signed a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) in Singapore for 1.5 million tons of LNG per year from its planned LNG facility in Mozambique. The SPA was signed with Chinese firm, CNOOC.

The contract will run for 13 years from the date that the LNG plant enters into production in 2023.

The SPA moves Anadarko one step closer into taking the FID on this major project. The FID is expected to be taken in H1 2019.

“This agreement gives China’s largest LNG importer access to Mozambique LNG’s world-class gas resources, which are strategically located off the east coast of Africa. The deal will provide China with a clean source of energy for years to come,” commented Mitch Ingram, Executive Vice President of International Division, Anadarko Deepwater and Exploration.
