Anadarko to Push Forward with Mozambique Development

Sunday, October 25, 2015

Despite the trend to put off large development projects in the petroleum sector due to the drop in oil prices, Anadarko Petroleum plans to move ahead with its natural gas development in Mozambique. The company said the FID will be made once the Mozambican government approves its development plan.

“We’re working full out to achieve a final investment decision as soon as possible,” Anadarko’s country manager John Peffer told Reuters. Peffer did not offer up a timeline, but did say the development plan would be submitted soon.

Once the plan is submitted the government has, by law, nine months to respond, potentially adding to more costs to the project that is already estimated at $20 billion.

The US independent plans to see its first cargo of LNG exported by the end of the decade.
