Angola Bid Round Deadline Extended and Entry Fee Reduced

Monday, June 7, 2021

The deadline for the submission of proposals for the bid round of blocks located in Angola’s Lower Congo and Kwanza Onshore Basins, which was initially scheduled for June 9, has been extended until July 9, 2021. Simultaneously ANPG – Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis – has decided to reduce the amount of the entry fee for the referred bid round.

ANPG´s decision to extend the deadline is based on the fact that various interested companies have requested an additional period for better understanding of all information regarding the blocks, as well as more time for further clarification on the bid round process.

Consequently, ANPG has decided to extend the deadline for the submission of proposals for the referred bid round, for an additional 30 days.

ANPG has also decided to reduce the entry fee, which will grant access to the data package, needed to support the decision of companies to participate in the process. The reduction is justified by the fact that the bid round pertains to onshore exploration, where historically, smaller companies and national companies are interested in participating in prospecting, exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons in Angola.

Covid-19, which continues to affect the global economy, has also impacted the national and international oil and gas industry. Thus, ANPG, which has been the driving force behind the oil and gas activity in Angola since its creation, took good note of the suggestions of the national and foreign investors, to reduce the amount of the entry fee and extend the deadline for the submission of the proposals. These measures aim to facilitate the bid round process and increase the possibility of entry of new players into the Angolan oil and gas sector.

Please be reminded that the launch of the 2020 Bid Round for Blocks CON1, CON5 and CON6 (Onshore Lower Congo Basin) and for Blocks KON5, KON6, KON8, KON9, KON17 and KON20 (Onshore Kwanza Basin) took place in April 30th. The aforementioned launch included the publication of the terms of reference, public tender rules, the templates for the application and the submission of proposals.

Furthermore, interested companies may find all the relevant information pertaining to the bid round process in ANPG´s website (www.anpg.co.ao), and/or contact Negotiations Direction through e-mail: [email protected], for any further clarification.
