Angola LNG has seen first production, finally. The project has seen a number of delays in starting up production, the last being a fire in April.
The first cargo is expected to be exported later this month. The first shipment from Angola LNG has been sold and is to be delivered by Sonangol to either Brazil or Portugal a trading source told Reuters.
Besides the most recent setback the plant saw a number of technical failures which has kept it about 18-months behind schedule.
The Sonangol Sambizanga, which is due to make the delivery, is currently moored at Angola’s LNG production facility in Soyo.
Chevron operates the project with a 36.4% shareholding, while Sonangol has a 22.8% stake. Other Angola LNG stakeholders include Total, BP, and ENI with 13.6% each.
