Angola Postpones Licensing Round

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

The licensing round planned by Angola for this year has been postponed and will now take place in Q1 2014. State-run firm Sonangol announced in September that it would host a round prior to the year’s end offering up onshore blocks in Kwanza and Lower Congo basins.

Speaking at the Annual Energy Week that took place in Moscow, Angola’s oil minister Jose Botelho de Vasconcelos said his country would welcome bids from Russian firms. “If, for instance, Rosneft is interested in our projects, we are open,” he said.

Angola plans to offer a total of 15 blocks in 2014, he said.
