Angolan Parliament to Submit New Local Content Law

Thursday, November 29, 2018

The Angolan parliament is expected to submit a new local content law for the oil and gas sector. The law will aim to establish a framework of clear, feasible, and unbureaucratic procedures to allow the application of better local content principles.

The announcement was made by Frederico Cardoso, Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic at the opening of the 2nd African Conference on Local Content in the Oil and Gas Industry.

According to Cardoso, it is “essential to end the inefficiency of local content laws” in the country. He assured that the new regulations will answer the outstanding questions in this direction.

Once the new law is approved, it will include security commitments and legal commitments to local companies. It will open the door to multiple opportunities for them in the field of technical, technological, employment and human resource development.
