The government of Mozambique delayed the close of its fifth oil and gas licensing round again. The round was supposed to close in mid-January, then the government pushed it to April 30 due to what they said was a “high level of interest” and a request for more time from interested firms.
The government said that the new date for the closing of the round is now July 30; it did not give a reason for this latest delay.
The 15 blocks on offer include three new areas of the northern Rovuma Basin, where significant natural gas reserves have already been discovered.
