While Libya touts higher output the country continues to see protesters, dual governments, and shut-in oil fields. According to reports out of the country, protesters who have been blocking the Abu Attifel oil field for over a year have shut in another field, the Jalo 59 field, operated by the Waha Oil Co. The closure of the Jalo 59 field has shut in 25,000 bpd.
In addition to the shutting in of the oil field the protesters blocked a road and seized a company airplane. They also seized the airplane and closed an airstrip, as well as the land road to Ajdabiya, which is on the coast close to the Zueitina oil port. The port is connected by pipelines to Abu Attifel, a security official was quoted in a Reuters report.
The Abu Attifel protesters also stopped fuel trucks bound for the Sarir power plant and kept 65 Egyptian truck drivers from leaving the area, the same security official said.
