Angola’s National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) has published the pre-qualification results for its 2023 Public Tender process with opportunity given to nine companies for preferred bidder operator status and five companies given preferred bidder status as non-operators.

The nine preferred bidders with operator status are: Etu Energias, Sonangol, Serinus Energy, Walcot Ltd, Acrep SA, Grupo Simples Oil, Intank Group, Transoceanic, and ACE Energy. The five preferred bidders with non-operator status are Sonangol, Grupo Simples Oil, Afentra, Enagol, and Effimax, while 10 companies failed to qualify.

Serinus has been selected as the preferred operator of the KON-13 block with an allocated working interest of 55%. The selected non-operator partners for the company are Effimax Energy (30% working interest), and Sonangol (Angola’s national oil company with 15% working interest). The company and its partners will engage with ANPG to negotiate the license terms on the Block. These negotiations are expected to be carried out over the next several months.

Afentra submitted bids for Blocks Kon 15 and Kon 19 and has been selected as a non-operated preferred bidder for these two blocks and will engage with the respective operators to discuss the engagement with the relevant authorities to negotiate the license terms.
