Tuesday, June 5, 2018

US independent Apache Corp. has expressed interest in expanding its activities and investments in Egypt, “breaking new ground” in the Egyptian petroleum sector, according to a statement from the North African country’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el Molla. The company said it is interested in participating in Egypt’s international tender, specifically in bidding on 11 blocks with five of those being in the Western Desert.

A delegation from the US firm met with Minister Tarek El Molla to discuss work currently underway in Egypt’s Western Desert. Under discussion was the company’s intensive work pursuing oil discoveries in the West Kalabsha and West Kanayes concessions, after seismic surveys showed positive results.

Apache will be drilling on its eastern Bahariya concession, also in the Western Desert, during Q3. According to the Ministry statement, production from eastern Bahariya is estimated to start six months after drilling operations.
