Release
Staff at AquaTerra’s West African Base made a generous donation whilst visiting a local orphanage in Takoradi, Ghana.
The Egyam orphanage, home to around 50 children aged between 6 and 17 years old, was visited by AquaTerra’s Alan Ewen and Warren Cooper earlier in August. The orphanage relies on private donations to feed and care for the children but they regularly do not have enough money for the basics.
Founded by Mrs Thea Van den Bosch together with Father Blay, Eqyam was officially opened in December 2007 and is not only home to orphaned children but acts as general support for the surrounding community, offering education and where possible food. The activities of the orphanage are supervised by two committees in Ghana and Holland and their future goals embrace an effort to build a fruit and vegetable garden.
AquaTerra’s donation included educational materials, food and hygiene supplies.
Alan and Warren worked alongside Egyam’s Patience Selase Sakyi and Grace Anthony to select the required items and make the visit to the orphanage to deliver the donation and see firsthand what goes on.
AquaTerra staff should be congratulated for their generosity. There are plans to make more donations to those in need in the near future.
